My 5 favorite podcasts right now

Updated: Sep 14

“The human mind is our fundamental resource.” - John F. Kennedy

Quickly after graduating college, I hungered for more learning resources. I grew so accustomed to hearing smart people’s insights every day - I started to miss it.

But, with little money and even less time, enrolling back into school was not an option. So, I dove into the world of podcasts to satisfy my growing appetite for education.

Through listening to podcasts, I have learned a ton about so many subjects. They really are an awesome resource.

In fact, I see them as so valuable that it’s a personal goal of mine to listen to at least 7 podcast episodes per week. This way I stay in a state of learning!

Knowing this, here are my five favorite podcasts right now:

1. The EntreLeadership Podcast (Ramsey Solutions)

This podcast is a product of Dave Ramsey’s company - Ramsey Solutions. On this podcast, the hosts, Daniel Tardy and Alex Judd, interview premier leaders from all industries. They ask great questions that draw out tons of valuable insight.

The podcast is geared for leaders from all ages and spaces and has a bit of an entrepreneurial bend to it. So, if you’re looking to start your own organization or just be a better leader in general this podcast is for you! 2. Ask Pastor John (Desiring God)

If you are a Christian leader, volunteer or paid, this is an amazing podcast! On this podcast, Pastor John Piper is asked a direct question from the interviewer. Questions such as: “If God is good, why do bad things happen?”, “Did God create Sin?” Etc.

Piper then answers the questions in a very concise, clear manner. Also, he provides plenty of biblical reference along the way so anyone can follow along.

Disclaimer: John Piper speaks in a very lofty manner. So, you might need to play the podcast back a few times to really grasp what he is saying. But, the episodes are only around 10 minutes in length - so listening to them twice won’t take very long!

3. The Dave Ramsey Show

There is no better show for personal finance than the Dave Ramsey show! If you’re looking to get a grip on your money situation, tune into this podcast.

On the show, Dave Ramsey fields calls and questions from people across the country about their money and lives. It’s a very entertaining and compelling format.

Along with talking about finances, Dave is a Christian who imparts some great, Godly wisdom throughout each episode.

4. The Tim Ferris Show

This is one of the more popular podcasts on the list. Tim Ferris is an investor, businessman, fitness guru and so much more. He’s just good at life!

Tim hosts some of the most prolific and successful people in our world today. The podcasts are pretty long, but they feel quick. It’s almost like you are sitting down with Tim and the guest for coffee.

This podcast is more of a general self - development resource. As there is not one specific focus to it.

5. The John Maxwell Leadership Podcast

John Maxwell is a literal leadership guru. He’s written multiple best selling books and the fact that he has a podcast now is incredibly fortunate for all aspiring and present leaders.

The episodes vary in style. Some are interview style with the interviewer, Mark Cole, and John. While others feature an archived talk from John Maxwell, and then the host does a debrief of the talk. Both styles are very compelling and great listens.

If you are wanting to grow as a leader, check out this podcast. You will not regret it.

That’s the list! I hope these podcasts benefit and inform you.

I would love to hear some of your favorite podcasts as well! Feel free to drop them in the comments on this blog or on my social media.
